Abstract
This study investigated the relationship among perceived parental`s rearing attitudes, smart phone addiction and depression, aggression amongst middle school students. The aim of this study was to examine depression and aggression in relation to their parental`s rearing attitudes and smart phone addiction. Data were analyzed by means of Pearson`s correlation and Baron & Kenny(1987)`s mediating effect analysis. Our results revealed that, first, parental rearing attitudes, depression and aggression were associated to smart phone addiction. Second, paternal rearing attitudes have a partial mediating effect on depression amongst boys, and maternal rearing attitudes had a perfect mediating effect upon this. As for the girls, both paternal and maternal rearing attitudes had perfect mediating effects on depression. In regard to aggression, parental rearing attitudes had perfect mediating effects on the aggression of the boys. As for the girls, paternal rearing attitudes had a partial mediating effect on aggression. Suggestions based on these results are also discussed.
